“Grown at Alexandra and barrel-aged, the 2014 vintage (★★★★) is bright ruby, floral and supple, with very good depth of ripe plum/spice flavours, finely integrated oak and gentle tannins. An elegant rather than powerful wine, it’s a drink-now or cellaring proposition.”

Aravin Central Otago Pinot Noir 2012

Awards: Gold, Romeo Bragato Wine Awards 2014

Expressive nose of cherry and violet and a deeply-fruited palate. Complex notes of cherry, thyme and spices. Subtle tannins lead into a long and lingering finish delivering a classic expression of Central Otago.

Even, dark ruby-red colour with a lighter edge.  The bouquet is fresh and firm with bright and vibrant black cherry and dark red berry fruits lifted by violet florals and complexed by nuances of thyme herbs, spices and liquorice.  The aromatics are finely concentrated and harmoniously presented.  Medium-full bodied and elegantly concentrated, the palate features a deep core of black cherry and dark red berry fruits in an amalgam with lifted florals, liquorice, spices and thyme herbs.

The fruit is gently sweet and has good vitality, the freshness enhanced by fine acidity.  The fruit is supported by fine-grained tannins lending a firm line and positive structure that carries to a sustained finish of spiced cherries and liquorice.

This is an elegantly concentrated Pinot Noir with firm black fruits and a fine structured palate line.  Match with lamb, beef and venison over the next 5-6 years.

Aravin Central Otago Pinot Rosé 2015

“Bright, light, candyfloss pink with light purple hues, very pale edged.  This is very fresh on the nose with light, pure, red cherry fruit aromas lifted by pink florals, interwoven with piquant, mouth-watering herbal elements.  Dryish to taste and light-medium bodied, fresh, tightly bound flavours of red cherries, cranberries and red florals feature on the palate.

Subtle herbal notes emerge and combine with thirst-quenching lacy acidity to provide a refreshing and lively mouthfeel. The palate is underlines by very fine, dry textures that carry the wine to a light, dry finish with cherry and floral nuances.

This is a light, refreshing off-dry rosé with pure cherry and floral fruit, and subtle herb notes and a fine textured palate.  Serve as an aperitif and with canapes over the next 2 years.”
